Make Spirit — Get a 4os Sword Base from Normal Cows
Summary
Loot a white Crystal or Broad Sword in Normal Secret Cows, then use Act 5 Larzuk for four sockets. Socket Tal → Thul → Ort → Amn for Spirit. You don't need a natural 4os drop on Normal ground.
Which sword? (alternatives)
Spirit wants four sockets and easy stats — not high damage. Maxroll-style lists put Crystal and Broad together. Loot both Crystal and Broad when you see them. Skip Long Sword.

Step by step
- 1.
Finish Normal and open the Cow Level.
- 2.
Pick white Crystal or Broad Swords (0os is fine). Check ethereal greys too.
- 3.
Larzuk socket quest in Act 5 (many players spend Normal Larzuk here).
- 4.
To save Larzuk, cube sword + Ral + Amn + Perfect Amethyst. Roll is random; Superior whites cannot use that recipe.
Why Normal cows
Cows are dense so you see white swords quickly. Larzuk socket count depends on where the item dropped; Normal cow swords usually become four sockets for Spirit.
Too-early zones can yield 3os; too-high Crystal can Larzuk to 6os (unusable for Spirit). Cows are safer than random early Normal fields.
From Nightmare on, natural 4os swords can drop — use those without Larzuk.
Avoid these
- – Waiting for natural 4os on Normal ground.
- – Larzuk on Act 1–2 swords → often only 3os.
- – Ignoring Broad Swords — they work.
- – Long Sword for casters — awkward Dex.
- – Cubing Superior whites — fails.
- – Putting Spirit in a 6os Crystal — needs exactly 4os.
